ESSENTIAL TIPS FOR HEALTHY SKIN, HAIR AND EYES THIS WINTER
As the temperature drops, our skin is often first to face the brunt of winter’s chill. Harsh winds, low humidity, and indoor heating can lead to dryness, redness, and irritation. So, when the cold weather sets in, it’s crucial to adjust your skincare routine to alleviate discomfort and keep your skin healthy, hydrated, and radiant.
Discover our lifestyle tips which restore comfort and help you maintain your glow all winter long.
FOCUS ON HYDRATION
Cold weather tends to strip away the moisture from our skin, leaving it feeling dry and tight. Combat this by prioritising hydration. Opt for products that contain ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides; these will lock in moisture and form a protective barrier against the harsh elements.
USE A HUMIDIFIER
A humidifier will infuse the air with much-needed moisture, alleviating the dehydration your skin feels. Keep it in your bedroom and switch it on one hour before bedtime. If you don’t have a humidifier, simply place a bowl of water on your radiator overnight and wake up to a more comfortable, dewy complexion in the morning.
REVITALISE YOUR EYES
Eyes can also feel dry and uncomfortable during the winter months and deserve some extra TLC. Apply hydrating eyedrops before bedtime, particularly if you’ve been wearing contact lenses throughout the day. Choose a solution infused with hyaluronic acid, as it attracts and retains moisture, leaving your eyes refreshed and hydrated.
INDULGE IN A TREATMENT
Incorporate regular facials as part of your skincare routine, to maintain comfortable and nourished skin throughout the winter. This will ensure the removal of cellular debris, encourage cellular renewal and balance oil production. We recommend a Hydrafacial every 4-6 weeks. Remember to use Opening Act for an at-home resurfacing and exfoliation treatment.
COLD-WEATHER CARE FOR LIPS, HANDS, AND HAIR
Our lips are often the first to suffer in cold weather. Keep them lovely and soft by delicately exfoliating with a toothbrush, followed with a light layer of Skin Meditation.
Take care of your hands and indulge in an overnight treatment. Apply Opening Act to your hands and just before you go to bed, apply a generous coat of Skin Meditation. Wear cotton gloves (a little strange, we know!) and you will wake up to soft and rejuvenated hands the next morning.
Have you noticed that your hair is drier and more brittle? To keep your hair healthy, use a nourishing hair mask overnight, and if you have any residual Smooth Player or Skin Meditation on your hands, run them through the tips of your hair – they work wonders to moisturise those dry ends!
NOURISH FROM WITHIN
Incorporate foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants in your diet. These powerhouse nutrients actively support skin health and contribute to a radiant complexion. Foods such as salmon, avocados, nuts, and berries are excellent additions for the winter.
For those grappling with intense dryness, consider taking an essential fatty acid supplement, such as Omega 3s. Omegas provide support for your skin’s barrier function, improving skin’s hydration levels and balancing oil production. Dry, rough, or irritated skin will feel calmer and soothed. Our favourites are Borage Seed Oil and Sea Buckthorn.
